It's been a really long time since I've updated the blog. Life got in the way. I finished a new manuscript just before Christmas, which is now in my agent's hands. I'm working on Book 3 in the OSI series, for the moment entitled "Unnatural Resources," which focuses on the murder of a necromancer and the developing relationship between Tess and Lucian. In between that writing, I also have a several articles that are overdue, as well as book reviews, so I've really got my work cut out for me this month.

I'm applying for the Spring round of academic jobs, and preparing for a campus interview in February, which is coming up very fast. I finally managed to read Le petit prince, by Antoine de St-Euxpery, for the first time completely in French, which didn't take as long as I thought it would. Even though my French is not great, I was still able to read and really enjoy what is possibly my favorite book, in its original language, which felt great. I am also just starting to learn Spanish. I need a clone to do all of this work.

As usual, I have no idea where I will be this summer, since everything will depend upon jobs and fellowships and the plans of significant others. Are there any teaching jobs in Hawaii or Barbados? I would like to sip mai-tais and work on my grant applications on a sunny beach, if that's not too much to ask.

Or teaching in space. Is there a grant for that? The SSHRC space-station grant? If I apply, I'll be sure to let Robert Fulford know, since he's always so keen on my development as a queer scholar.
